About four weeks ago, I took the vehicle to an alignment shop, where they advised that it needed rack ends and outer tie rod ends. I purchased genuine rack ends and outer tie rod ends. The outer tie rod ends weren't in bad condition, but I replaced them anyway. When I took the vehicle to my mechanic to install the new rack ends, he inspected everything and found that the rack ends were actually fine. He determined that the real issue is the rack and pinion. I have already located a replacement rack and pinion for $40,000, and I'm willing to deduct that amount from the asking price so the new owner can have it replaced.
